This class in designed for experienced teachers who have either been Master trained or attended an introductory training session and want to maximize their use of the SMART Board in Math. Teachers will learn how to use and enhance existing resources in Notebook to create and present interactive lessons and activities. Hello Technology Leaders. Our February meeting will be on Thursday February 21, 2008 from 3-5 pm. We will be using Elluminate to meet virtually this month. You will not have to drive to any particular location. You can join the meeting from any location as long as you have an internet connection. So, you can be at work, at home, at Starbucks, or any place you choose.
If you have never used Elluminate, I recommend you go to the following site and check out the Quick Tutorial. http://www.epp.jhu.edu/elive/installationtutorial.htm This tutorial will allow you to install Java and go into a Test session of Elluminate so that you can practice and learn to set up your audio ahead of time. You will be receiving the link to our meeting through email. Contact me if you are not on my email list.

2008 California School Technology Survey
The window for completion of the 2008 California Technology Survey is January 24, 2008, through March 14, 2008. The last day to complete the survey to meet the technology survey requirements of the Enhancing Education Through Technology Formula and Competitive grants is Friday, March 14, 2008. Because of these requirements, LD4 is asking for the survey to be completed by Friday, February 29, 2008 in order to avoid technical pitfalls that may hamper the ability to meet the CDE deadline. The link to the survey is http://www3.cde.ca.gov/techsurvey/default.aspx.
InfoTech
InfoTech 2008 is just around the corner. If you have students and/or teachers that would like to showcase their work at this conference, please let me know. I am looking for at least 10 participants. It could be as simple as a Power Point Presentation or websites created by students. This is your opportunity to show off and share with others what your school is doing with technology. Visit http://infotech.lausd.net/ for more information. A flyer for your school is included in your packet.
Funding Opportunities/EdTech Profile:
Enclosed in your packet is a CTAP 11 Technology Funding Alert from the Los Angeles County Office of Education. The document lists funding sources and contests your school can apply for. As a reminder, have your staff complete the EdTech Profile assessment at www.edtechprofile.org . This is an annual survey that teachers need to complete. If you would like to use the EdTech Profile data for any of these grant opportunities, contact me and I will print out your data.
